Welcome to Cheadle Hulme School

Curiosity. Compassion. Joy. Community.

As Head of CHS, what I’m most proud of is the way our pupils grow into themselves here. This is a warm, vibrant community where young people are encouraged to think deeply, aim high and discover themselves and what they’re capable of, both in and beyond the classroom.

WELCOME FROM THE HEAD

CHS was founded in 1855 by free-thinking philanthropists who believed in the power of inclusive co-education to ensure children were given the best preparation for their lives beyond school, enabling them to thrive and prosper. That founding ethos continues to shape everything we do. Today, our pupils leave us not only well-educated, but self-aware, compassionate, and ambitious for their future.

The best way to understand what makes CHS so special is to meet the pupils themselves. They are thoughtful, enthusiastic, and genuinely excited about what’s ahead. I hope you’ll come and do just that.

Our Purpose and Vision

Who we are

Our purpose is rooted in the belief that a great education should be grounded in intellectual curiosity, compassion and joy. Founded in 1855 to educate children in need, our heritage as The Manchester Warehousemen and Clerks’ Orphan School continues to shape who we are today.

We passionately believe that an inclusive coeducation has never been more important, where pupils celebrate differences and learn the value of respecting new and diverse ways of thinking.

“School leaders have developed a co-curricular programme which enables pupils to acquire knowledge and skills that help to prepare them for life beyond school.

This is a significant strength.”
