Behind the CHScenes: From History to Hashtags – Miss Brittany Nutting-Ashworth (CHS Senior Marketing Executive)
Meet Brittany!
As part of our series, Behind the CHScenes, we’re chatting with non-teaching Staff around CHS who are often busy keeping everything running smoothly! Let’s learn a little more about what Brittany gets up to during a typical summer holiday…
How long have you been at CHS? What did you do before?
I’ve been at CHS for just over two years now, working in the External Relations department.
Before starting my role at CHS, I was attending University, studying History. I actually finished my dissertation on the Friday, and started here on the Monday!
I had done a little bit of work in marketing during my degree though, working for the Pankhurst Trust and Women’s Aid as a social media influencer.
I also spent my last year studying Japanese alongside my degree which was fun and very different!
What does a typical day look like for you in your role?
There is no typical day in the ER department! My job is to market the school, which sort of means running around all of the different fun and exciting activities going on, to get a glimpse and grab some photos and share on social media.
There is always something new happening at CHS, so a lot of the time you won’t find me at my desk, but instead somewhere around site with a camera!
What does the External Relations Team get up to during the summer?
The team use the Summer to prepare all of our materials for the upcoming year. This might mean planning a new fundraising campaign, redesigning our content plans, planning future photoshoots, or finding a new tiktok trend to hop on!
What has been the most rewarding moment in your time at CHS so far?
For me I think it has been working my pupil team on the Ed. Podcast and filming some fab episodes with guests like Becky Adlington, Eva Echo and ElBurritoMonster!
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Working in social media means that I spend a lot of time looking at screens, so when I’m not at work I like to get away from my phone and spend time outside. That means either walking or cycling somewhere new!
If you could only use one social media platform for the school, which one would it be and why?
Definitely Instagram! Instagram to me is the most interesting platform due to the way it’s changed since it first came about.
The platform isn’t just regular grid posts anymore. It’s also stories, highlights, reels…so I’d choose this because you can have way more fun with it and post diverse content.
Tell us something fun or unexpected about yourself that the school community might not know!
I am a keen baker who runs a pop up bakery once a month! I only opened my pop up this year, so it’s still all very new to me, but i’m enjoying every minute (especially the late nights in the kitchen trying to perfect pastry recipes).
