U11 Girls Football success at Manchester City
Our U11 A and B Girls Football teams entered Manchester City’s U11 Girls Football Tournament earlier this week.
The teams played in different groups and both started off well. During the 6 group stage games, they conceded only one goal between them.
Sadly a CHS v CHS final was not to be as they drew each other in the Quarter Final. After a gruelling battle between the two teams CHS A came out 2-0 winners. Credit to the CHS B team as they had the toughest defence to break down of all the teams at the tournament.
CHS B team went on to enjoy an end to end runners up game with Gorsey Bank, during which they scored some excellent goals.
CHS A team went on to face old rivals Stockport Grammar in the Semi-Final, winning 3-1, before taking on a fierce Terra Nova side in the final. Evans scored after 6 seconds after some quick play between Robinson and herself but it wasn’t a straightforward game; TN came back to equalise making it 1-1. The team had to dig deep and through some excellent passing between Evans, Offord & Williamson CHS scored a second, 2-1. The final 90 seconds of the game saw Nicholls (GK), Tebbutt and Adams-Mercer put to the test as TN had four consecutive corners – each defended superbly.
Mr Cartwright, Junior School teacher “Whilst I continue to be impressed with the success of our Girls’ Football teams I can’t overstate how proud I am of the attitude and commitment of the girls involved in Junior School Football. Whilst there were 21 girls representing CHS at Manchester City this week there are an additional 14 girls that make up the 35 strong girls Football Club. There are more fixtures scheduled in the coming weeks to give all of those attending training the opportunity to represent CHS, as well as the ISFA National Cup which we hope to defend”.
