Travelling to CHS

Cheadle Hulme School stands at the heart of 83 acres of School grounds; tucked away between the A34 Wilmslow-Handforth Bypass, Heathbank Road, Hulme Hall Road and Gillbent Road.

The School benefits from three access points:

  • For the school-run, visiting sports teams, evening events or holiday clubs please use School Lane Entrance (postcode SK8 6EF but use SK8 6LY on your satnav and continue past Woodlands Close)
  • For organised visits and daytime deliveries please use Claremont Road Entrance (SK8 6EG)
  • For weekend lettings and dropping off use Gym Car Park (also SK8 6EG off Claremont Road).

Travel to CHS during Covid-19

As parking in School is very limited, we recommend the pupil coach service as a way for most of the senior pupils to travel to School. The coaches are offered independently of CHS by Elite Services.

A number of public service buses also operate in the local area, the nearest public bus stops are on Church Road and Gillbent Road which is a 4½ minute walk from the School Lane entrance.

Travelling by Train

Cheadle Hulme railway station is on the Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe & Stoke-on-Trent rail lines and is approximately a 12-minute walk away from School.

Student Season Tickets. CHS participates in the Under 16 educational season ticket scheme which over 40% discount on term time train tickets through Northern Rail. Application forms are available to pick up from Wilmslow, Sandbach, Poynton, Macclesfield, Holmes Chapel, Handforth, Congleton, Alderley Edge station ticket offices or you can download the form here.

Northern Rail Saver Scheme. There is a new initiative for 16-7 years olds, giving a 50% discount for all rail fares. There is a £30 payment upfront and students can buy tickets at all times without a minimum value. For further information visit

Walking / Cycling

An active lifestyle is at the core of School life and there are many students who walk, scoot and cycle to School. The inner-School campus is pedestrian-friendly and vehicle-free to allow students, staff and visitors to walk around School safely and efficiently. Cycle parking facilities are available outside the Netball courts and near Holden Hall, and scooter parks are available in the Junior School playground to encourage sustainable travel for younger pupils and siblings when accompanying those walking to School.
