Art & Design A Level Exam Information
Course Overview
Throughout the Lower Sixth course students will be guided and supported in learning and developing a strong and sophisticated skill set which will enable them to attack the Upper Sixth course with vigour and determination.
This is a broad course following practical and critical / contextual work through a range of 2D and / or 3D processes and media associated with two or more of the titles below:
- Fine Art
- Graphic Communications
- Textile Design
- Three dimensional design
- Photography
Course Structure
- Component 1, Personal Investigation (60%)
- Component 2, Externally Set Assignment (40%)
Reading and Resources
This list is by no means exhaustive and students will be expected to have an active interest in local, national and international art events. Students should be actively engaging with exhibitions, artists and craftspeople.
Attending university ‘End of Year’ shows will allow them to form strong opinions about their own art practice and future progression.
Entry Requirements
Ideally students should have achieved a grade 6 or above at GCSE Art.
