Entry to our Senior School
Entry to our Senior School is on a competitive basis: admission is subject to the availability of a place and to the candidate meeting the entry requirements at the time. The Head’s decision in accepting or refusing a candidate is final. In order to ensure fairness and to protect the integrity of the system, results of assessments including the Entrance Examinations and the interview are not discussed with parents or made public.
A limited number of places may be available to join Years 8, 9 and 10 in the Senior School. Please contact admissions to find out more.
Our Assessment process
Cheadle Hulme School is an academically selective school and sets its own Entrance Examination. Applicants for entry into Year 7 are examined in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning. Copies of previous papers are not available although specimen questions and further information about the papers can be found here.
Applicants who do well in the initial written examination will be invited to attend for an interview. Not all those interviewed, however, will be offered a place. At the interview stage we are looking for potential, a wide range of interests and personal values very much aligned with our own. A report is also requested from the applicant’s current school. The Head’s recommendation and comments about the character and work ethic of the individual are an important part of our selection process too.
