International Partnerships
Our pupils represent over twenty different languages from all over the world. We encourage all pupils to embrace the opportunities presented internationally, both through our extensive range of trips and our partnerships with schools and organisations around the world.
Germany
Location: Recklinghausen – Year 10 and 11 German students can participate in a 1-week exchange. The German partners visit us in September and we visit Germany for the return leg during the February Half Term break.
Locations: Aachen, Dortmund, Cologne, Koblenz and Munster – Opportunities for Sixth Form students to take part in work experience opportunities with language and culture activities. There are various accommodation options, including staying with local families. This opportunity is open to students of German
France
Location: Lille, Metz, Nancy, Rouen, Avignon, Bordeaux, Montpellier and Nîmes – Sixth Form students studying French can take part in work experience opportunities with language and culture activities. There are various accommodation options, including staying with local families.
Switzerland
Location: Bülach (Zurich) – KZU (Kantonsschule Zürcher Unterland) is a high-achieving state-funded school to the north of Zurich. The school has a long-established link with schools in the Manchester area. 2-4 students from KZU fully integrate to the CHS community as students of Lower Sixth for the Autumn term. Lower Sixth students can spend an extended period at the school (3-4 weeks). This is particularly suited to students of science-based subjects.
Spain
IES Conde de Orgaz, Madrid
A high-achieving state-funded 12-18 secondary school in Madrid, the school has an art specialism in the Sixth Form and because of the reputation it has established, students from across La Comunidad de Madrid go there to study. In the lead up to the Year 11 residential Madrid Trip, students can host a student from the School when they send a delegation to MUNCH in early October. During the Year 11 Madrid Trip we visit the School for the day, benefitting from sharing learning experiences.
Colegio Internacional SEK El Castillo, Madrid
One of the most prestigious and forward-thinking schools in Spain, SEK is located between Madrid and El Escorial. Year 9 Spanish students can participate in a 1-week exchange with a student in their MYP 3 (Year 9 Equivalent). We visit Spain in October and they come to Cheadle Hulme in March. Lower Sixth students can spend an extended period at the school (2-3 weeks). Pupils also have the opportunity to participate in the residential summer camps.
Spark Spanish, Puerto de Santa Maria, Cádiz
A language school in this lovely coastal town across the bay from Cádiz. We use this school for our Year 7 activities week trip. There are also work experience opportunities for our Year 11 and Sixth Form students combined with accommodation and a language course over the summer holidays.
Salamanca, Santiago de Compostela, Santander and Segovia – Sixth Form students have the opportunity to gain work experience with language and culture activities. There are various accommodation options, including staying with local families. This opportunity is open to students of Spanish.
