It was the most successful result for CHS’s Junior School athletes to date after they won 17 medals at the Association of Junior Independent Schools (AJIS) Athletics championships.
A team of 19 Year 5 and 6 athletes travelled to Witton Park, Blackburn to compete in the event alongside over 25 other schools from all over the North West.
They took part in a range of events including sprint and middle distance running, high jump, long jump and throw.

Gold
Oliver Pimlott – 150m and long jump

Caitlin McInerney – high jump
Silver
Ismaeel Latif – high jump,
Ruby Hyde – 80m
Charlotte Bischof – 150m
Bronze
Charlotte Bischof – long jump
Henry Sawer – throw
Relay medals were won by the Year 6 girls’ team of Ruby Hyde, Lauren Atkinson, Francesca Porter and Martha Thompson (Silver) and the Year 6 boys’ team of Oliver Pimlott, Morgan Turner, Archie Iddon and Oliver Davies (Bronze).
CHS Athletics Coach, Mr David Jackson said: “We have never won so many medals and the most satisfying thing for me is that we had 3 teams in the relay finals which shows the strength in depth of our School. It was a great performance by these athletes, enhanced by the large number of pupils who have regularly attended our after school Athletics Club.”
