CHS are Glider Challenge Champs
Team CHS are winners once again as Year 7s are crowned RAF National Glider Challenge Champions for the second consecutive year!
Waconian scientists Noah, Ben, Tom and Nathaniel spent a day in the labs last week pulling together their entry for the annual RAF National Glider Challenge. The competition runs every year, and encourages pupils to compete against other schools in designing, building, and successfully flying a glider.
The team worked together on researching the best designs and theory of flight, and then recreated their glider design which had won an earlier School competition.
Hard work paid off for Team ‘Thunderbolt’ as they managed to launch their glider to an impressive distance of 5.95m, earning them the title of overall winners of the competition—a distinction School also achieved last year.
Mrs Kathryn Bruce, Head of Lower Science helped guide them through the day of competing: “The team showed such enthusiasm and are a real credit to CHS. Fantastic work!”
