Teachers and staff at Cheadle Hulme School are ready to put their vocal chords to the test, as they prepare to compete in this year’s Hallé Corporate Choir Competition.
The competition will see the School’s 20-strong choir pit their choral talents against 8 other businesses in the region, including Bruntwood, PwC and last year’s winners, Siemens Plc.
The School’s choir, which includes Junior School Head, Mrs Barbara Bottoms and Head of Modern Languages, Mr John Wilson, is being led by Musical Director of Hallam Choral Society and Preston Orpheus Choir, Ellie Slorach.
Inspired by Christmas family favourite, Home Alone, the CHS songsters will perform ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Carol of the Bells’ from the film’s soundtrack whilst sporting colourful Christmas jumpers.
Final rehearsals are underway, before the choir compete on Friday 25th November at Hallé St. Peter’s in Ancoats.
Winners of the prestigious competition gain the opportunity to perform with the Hallé at The Bridgewater Hall during its popular Winter Wonderland concert.
The Hallé launched the Corporate Choir Competition after winning the eighth annual Lever Prize in January 2013, for their imaginative proposal to use Hallé St Peter’s for an Arts Based Training programme in addition to rehearsals and recordings.
