CHS U15 cricketers beat Cheshire County U14s by 5 wickets as the School side warmed up for their National Cup run.
Playing the first match in a series of high profile cricket fixtures against Cheshire’s representative teams over the coming weeks, CHS fielded first and with tight bowling, restricted the visitors to 196/5 off 35 overs.
Oliver Latter claimed 3 wickets whilst CHS’s own U14 players Max Haughton and Matt Madeira both impressed.
CHS chased down the total for the loss of 5 wickets with more than 4 overs to go which saw excellent 50s for Ben Staniforth and breakthrough County player Dan Adams.
CHS’s National Cup run begins in a couple of weeks against either Durham’s Barnard Castle or Northumberland’s RGS Newcastle.
As the standard of CHS age groups improves, CHS Head of Cricket, Mr Graham Clinton has been keen to arrange extra challenging fixtures for the boys. He said: “We’re delighted to welcome Cheshire County U14, U13, U12 and U11 Development squads to CHS this Summer to challenge our boys. It provides good competition and will give CHS the chance to showcase their ability against the best players in the County.”
CHS cricketers have already been challenged in India over the Easter holidays whilst welcoming Marist College from Australia in July.
