CHS’s young writers were inspired after coming face-to-face with War Horse author and world-renowned storyteller, Michael Morpurgo.
Visiting Stockport Plaza, pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 pitched their questions to the story-teller as part of an exclusive event, especially for students.
The award-winning and much-loved writer spoke of, and read from, his new book ‘An Eagle in the Snow’ – inspired by the true story of one man who might have stopped World War II – and offered a captivating insight into his life as an author.
Michael also answered questions from the audience and was asked whether he enjoyed writing sad stories more than upbeat ones by CHS Year 6 pupil, Joe.
The trip coincided with the Junior School’s big theme for this year; reading and literacy.
CHS Junior Deputy Head, Mr Mason said: “This was a great opportunity to meet Michael and hear how he gets the ideas for his books. Hopefully some of the pupils will have been inspired and use some of his tips to help with their own story writing.”
