Saba Al-Mubaslat is a Humanitarian who has worked to help thousands of vulnerable people over the years and is currently the CEO of the Humanitarian Leadership Academy.
Saba wasn’t able to make the conference due to unforeseen last minute changes, however she spoke via video link to the students.
Introduced by her assistant and the first Secretary General of MUNCH back in 2001, Rachel Evans, Saba told the students how important MUNCH is.
She said: “It’s important because it helps us learn to work together as part of something bigger. What happens in one nation has an effect on its neighbour. We must work together to make a difference.”
Students travelled from all over England to take part in this year’s MUNCH. One school even travelled from Madrid to be able to take part, debating in their second or third language.
The conference was a huge success with students engaging with each other and debating important topics extremely well.
Mrs Shand praised the school after the weekend. She said: “I am immensely proud of the huge number of students who gave up their weekend to help to run the conference.
“The praise for our school from all the visiting schools was lovely to hear and we had several observers for the weekend who were amazed by the level of debate and the work of the CHS students.”
