Members of CHS’s Junior Chess club are celebrating after playing their way to the finals of the EPSCA Championships.
6 out of 20 players from CHS made up the Cheshire and North Wales Under 11s county chess team – including pupil Emily, the youngest player of the tournament (by quite a margin!).
Emily stepped up from reserve to play at the last minute and even drew one of her games against a much older competitor, winning an important half point.
All of the pupils were fantastic – they came 4th overall and are looking forward to the next round of the competition.
