Mr Heagerty laces up for altruistic challenge
CHS’s Co-Director of Sport, Mr Giles Heagerty, is running the Wilmslow Half Marathon this weekend, in aid of Bare Necessities.
Bare Necessities is a toiletry bank based in South Manchester, founded by two of Giles’s friends who were determined to do something to help local people have equal access to personal hygiene products.
Mr Heagerty is one of 30 runners who will be taking part in Wilmslow Running Festival to help run hygiene poverty into the ground.
“Bare Necessities is a charity that is very close to my heart. My mother is a trustee and my children and I will help out as much as we can. The opportunity to help raise some money for such a worthwhile cause was not one I could turn down. Timing wise, I’m hoping to get around 1hr 50m!”
The charity works to fight hygiene poverty and help local people to keep clean when they can’t afford the everyday essentials that are taken for granted. The funds raised will enable the Wilmslow based charity to buy toiletries to add to those donated. A selection of toiletry and hygiene products are packed into age and gender specific bags and delivered monthly to 32 charities in the Cheshire East and Manchester area. Charities include women’s, youth & schools, mother & baby, food banks and street homelessness.
