Multicultural CHS Celebrations
The rich cultural tapestry of the School was displayed when CHS hosted its first ‘Multicultural CHS’ Celebration – inviting over 250 guests from the wider community.
To mark World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, the new event saw homemade snacks from local businesses and members of the community, workshops, talks and fun activities – all to celebrate different cultures within the School community and initiate conversation.
Pentagon Yard was the place to be as vibrant fusion music echoed from the speakers, and performances of Bhangra and Flamenco dancing caught the audience’s attention – with many joining in!
In the drama studios, talks from Manchester University Lecturer, Dr Leonie Gaiser and Manchester poet Zahid Hussain, fostered a great audience, Dr Gaiser sharing all about her research into multilingualism in Manchester, and Zahid sharing inspiring and informative words about the creation of his poem ‘Made in Manchester’.
Junior School Teacher and Multicultural CHS Day Event Leader, Mrs Rebecca Fox-Partridge said: “Multicultural CHS Day really showcased the rich cultural diversity of our School Community. The event was utterly amazing and I won’t ever forget the strong sense of community, happiness and kindness that enveloped the whole day from start to end.“
