On Thursday 11th October, Rick Pennell, (Class of 1988) and his colleagues at Grassroots Recruitment were delighted to be crowned winners of Stockport Business of the Year (£1-£5m turnover). The Business Awards celebrates business excellence within the Stockport borough and aims to showcase enterprises of every size and description.
TV presenter Jenny Powell hosted the awards where over 350 people who attended witnessed the achievements of the region’s finest.
Rick, Associate Director at Grassroots, commented “On the night, we were extremely excited to be surrounded by many successful, innovative and upcoming Stockport businesses (as well as local business leaders who are also Old Wacs). We were fortunate to be joined by several clients and took full advantage of the incredible atmosphere.
When our name was announced, we couldn’t believe it! Celebrating our 10th year, to achieve such an accolade meant so much to our team and it’s a great testament to our hard work and commitment. The moment will be forever remembered.
The night was a colossal success. Stockport Town Hall provided a vibrant and positive atmosphere and it was great meeting other members of the community celebrating the amazing businesses of Stockport. Our success is due to an incredible team of like-minded professionals who give everything, every day to ‘be better’ and exceed expectations”.
Rick added “This is the first award I have received since winning the ‘Golden Box’ – a dubious honour offered by CHS Cricket 1st XI in 1988…”
