Over the next few months our dramatic Old Waconians are in the spotlight.
This weekend you can see Holly Willock, Class of 2016, making a guest appearance in Snow White at The Evans Theatre Wilmslow. As an alumni of the DATS dance and theatre school she has supported them by choreographing some of the show. Holly spent much of last year on The Sound of Music UK tour headed up by Lucy O’Byrne and Neil McDermott.
From tomorrow Aimee Wood, Class of 2012, will be making her debut in a new Netflix series Sex Education. This follows her success on the stage at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago in Downstate, a new play by Pulitzer prize-winning writer Bruce Norris. From March you can see Aimee in her role as Effie when the play comes to The National Theatre, London.
Also in London you’ll find Mark Grindrod, Class of 1979, treading the boards as Captain Horster in An Enemy of the People at Union Theatre until 2 February.
More locally, retired English teacher Nigel Westbrook is directing Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge at CHADS Theatre from March 9-16 (excluding Sunday). “I used to teach this text to GCSE students, and although it may not be taught this year, I hope that keen English Literature or Drama students would still enjoy the chance to see the play.” Tickets may be ordered online.
We wish them all the best of luck and look forward to hearing about their next ventures.
