Sparks fly for CHS Lightning at Aston Martin
Sparks flew when CHS’s F1 in Schools’ team, CHS Lightning, visited Aston Martin Wilmslow to gain an insight into enterprise and marketing in the motor industry.
Thanks to an introduction from Glossy Magazine, the team met with Marketing Manger, Amanda and Principal Dealer Nik, and heard first-hand about social media use, particularly in terms of showcasing a new car to the public.
They also took along their own CHS Lightning prototype car to present their progress in the competition so far.
CHS Lightning Team Manager, Audrey said: “The Aston Martin Wilmslow team were amazing. They managed to procure the exact model car used for the F1 safety car, the Aston Martin Vantage, especially for our visit! It was awesome, when it was revved up in the various modes it sounded incredibly powerful. What an experience!”
Since their visit the team’s prototype car has performed well on the Manchester Metropolitan University test track, even winning against cars designed by graduates.
Their next steps are to complete and submit their portfolio for entry into the Regional heats ahead of competing on track in the summer.
They are now continuing to finesse the aerodynamics of their model car, before finally adding the paint and decals, whilst developing their relationship with Aston Martin Wilmslow in design expertise and potential CHS Lightning team sponsorship.
