Spring Term Sport Success
It’s already been a Spring term of sporting triumphs here at CHS. From the Junior School to the Sixth Form, our Waconian athletes have been demonstrating incredible skill, resilience, determination and teamwork. Here are some of the highlights from the season so far.
CHS’s rugby team is celebrating after reaching the semi-finals of the Continental Tyres Schools Club Plate.
After jumping out to a 19-0 lead in the quarter-final, the game tightened, and with five minutes to go, CHS trailed 21-19. But the boys showed true Waconian grit, not only scoring to retake the lead but then defending heroically for the remaining three minutes to seal the victory.
This remarkable run marks the furthest CHS has ever progressed in the competition, a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players and coaches.
“To win the game and have the opportunity to compete for a National Championship would be phenomenal,” said Mr Giles Hegarty, Co-Director of Sport. “The squad are working hard in preparation, and I know they will give a good account of themselves.”
Good luck boys!

Our netballers have enjoyed an incredible season, with multiple teams reaching prestigious finals.
A huge congratulations to our Senior 1st team, U15A, U13A, and U12A squads, all of whom have earned their spots in the Sisters in Sport finals day for their respective age groups.
The Senior 1st team demonstrated their strength and determination with a commanding 59-45 victory over Wakefield in the semi-final, overcoming a tough first quarter to secure their place. Adding to their impressive achievements, they have also qualified for the finals of the England Netball National Schools tournament, a highly competitive event showcasing the best netball talent in the country.
Our U15A team showed their resilience and composure in a nail-biting match against Solihull, ultimately prevailing with a 41-37 win. As seasoned competitors in national finals, they’ll be drawing on their past experiences to strive for victory.
The U15B team has also made a remarkable run, reaching the North Semi-final of the Sisters in Sport Shield competition. This is their first foray into national competition, and CHS couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and performance.
Our U13A team is heading to the finals of the Sisters in Sport Plate competition. Having experienced national finals last year, we’re excited to see how their experience translates onto the court.
Finally, a special shout-out to our U12A team! This marks their first taste of national finals, and after a confident 27-20 win against Kings High Warwick, we have no doubt they’ll make a strong impression.
Go teams!

Year 5 and 6 hockey players make CHS proud at the annual AJIS Boys Hockey Tournament.
Year 5 and 6 hockey players from CHS made their school proud at the annual AJIS Boys Hockey Tournament, hosted by Bolton School. For many of the boys, this was their first opportunity to represent CHS in hockey, and for some, even their very first hockey match.
The team competed in five games and made it to the semi-finals. The competition was a great learning experience for all, and the coaches were very proud of the way the boys conducted themselves.
Well done, boys!

The CHS U11 Girls Hockey team has triumphed in their In2 Hockey qualifying round, securing a coveted spot in the finals.
On Wednesday, February 12th, the girls faced a tough challenge against Manchester High School. After a very competitive game filled with excellent play from both sides, the CHS girls emerged victorious with a 3-2 win.
This exciting victory propels them forward to the In2 Hockey finals, which will be held at Sedbergh School on March 21st. The team now has the opportunity to compete against the best in the region and represent CHS on a larger stage.
Congratulations girls!
