Mistle-toes were tapping and CHS’s Junior School pupils were feeling festive after a Christmas visit from BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Nadiya Bychkova and dance partner Michael Vaughan.
Surprising Year 4 as part of the show’s fairytale-themed Christmas Special – which aired on BBC1 on Christmas Day – former England cricketer, Michael dropped in to Mrs Bottoms’ class with Nadiya to ask the pupils what he could do to ‘be young’ in preparation for his Peter Pan performance.
From dancing ‘The Floss’ to posting on social media, the pupils made lots of fun suggestions to help Michael get into character before encouraging him to don a Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer costume to become more Christmassy.
The pupils sang and performed actions to ‘We Are Camels’ from their own Christmas production Born In A Barn, and were given a sneak preview of the pair’s American Smooth routine from the show in their classroom.
After their visit Michael and Nadiya took to the Pavilion where they spent some time rehearsing for their performance in the School’s Dance Studio.
