Congratulations to Year 8 swimmer Ashley who is now the UK’s fastest swimmer in his age group for 50 metres freestyle.
With a time of 26.5 seconds, Ashley broke his record after taking part in the Open Meet 2017 at Manchester’s Aquatics Centre.
13-year-old Ashley, who is also 9th in the UK for 100 metres freestyle with his time of 58.8 seconds, says he’s looking forward to finding out where his swimming skills will take him next.
He said: “I might go to the nationals even though I will swim against people who are 14.”
A swimmer at Altrincham Swimming Club, Ashley is also 14th in 50 metres backstroke in the U.K. with a time of 30.9 seconds.
