Top Engineering Scholarship Prize for Oscar

Lower Sixth student Oscar has been presented with the coveted Arkwright Scholarship for Engineering – the most prestigious scholarship of its type in the UK.

Awarded in recognition of outstanding potential as a future leader in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), Oscar attended a formal presentation of the award last weekend at Edinburgh’s International Conference Centre.

Only awarded to high-calibre students after a rigorous selection process, Oscar, who recently achieved a top score of 314/360 in his GCSE Dual Science, will be sponsored by the Institution of Electronics. He has also been asked to speak at their AGM next week.

Recently commenting after outstanding success across each of his GCSE subjects, Oscar said: “The results were great but if I’m pushed I’d say I’m most pleased about the Arkwright Scholarship, I really want to work in the design aspect of Engineering so this is a step in the right direction.”

CHS Technology Teacher, Mrs Fiona Buxton said: “Oscar is an outstanding student and thoroughly deserves the Scholarship awarded to him. He combines an intellectual buzz with willpower to achieve his absolute best in creating a solution.”

“His outstanding achievements in his academic studies are the result of his commitment and determination to achieve his very best. He has an amazing quality of purpose that he applies to every piece of work.”
