CHS’s U11 cricket team went from strength to strength this season, losing only once in a competitive series of fixtures.
Although the weather claimed a few early matches, the team recorded impressive victories over NULS, King’s Macclesfield and Stockport Grammar.
In the AJIS cup the team advanced to the semi-final before losing narrowly in a re-match against Stockport Grammar.
The highlight of the season was a memorable victory over Cheshire U11s. With CHS set an unlikely target of 175 to win, Captain Archie Vaughan and partner Johnnie McCrory set to the task with some impressive shot-making and plenty of quick singles.
Archie Vaughan retired after reaching his maiden century on 100 not out, leaving Joe Ashworth and Archie Iddon to take the team to victory with an over to spare!
CHS Junior School Deputy Head, Mr Myles Mason said: “As well as being one of the best Junior Cricket sides in recent years, the team have played with tremendous team spirit, always encouraging each other and enjoying one another’s success. It has been a great pleasure to coach them this season. With great potential shown also this season in the U10s, the future looks bright for CHS Junior cricket.”
